When it comes to managing diversity and inclusion, operational managers have a wide range of responsibilities. Modern organisations place a considerable expectation on their managers to look after attracting, recruiting, developing, and promoting people. They also must manage individual and team productivity and performance.

This course is ideal for primary care professionals who want to improve their knowledge and skills in managing diversity and inclusion in the workplace, including physicians, nurses, healthcare managers, and other healthcare professionals who work with diverse teams and patients.

Delivery & duration options

If managers have attended our D&I for Teams course, then an additional half-day will cover the basics of the manager’s responsibilities. There is a lot more detail to be had here though. For example, if you do not have a recruitment and selection training in-house, then this is advisable to add in here to ensure legal compliance.

Understanding the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and the benefits of creating an inclusive environment for employees and patients.

Cultural Competence:
Learning about cultural competence and how it can be applied in the healthcare context to promote inclusivity and improve patient care.

Managing Unconscious Bias:
Understanding the concept of unconscious bias and how it can impact decision-making, and developing strategies to manage and mitigate its effects.

Effective Communication in Diverse Teams:
Developing effective communication skills in diverse teams, including active listening, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.

Creating an Inclusive Workplace:
Learning how to create an inclusive workplace culture, including recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce, implementing diversity and inclusion policies and practices, and providing diversity and inclusion training for employees.
